Windows 10 and errors with Norton Internet Security

On start-up of my laptop, Windows 10 has security alert messages (errors).  The first image below shows No Virus protection indicating Norton Internet Security did not launch correctly.  Note at the bottom of the screen (image) there is the green check mark for NIS.  I did as suggested and turned off the Windows 10 feature Fast Startup (that saves stuff to a file at Shut down for a fast start when you turn on your laptop - this is a much faster start-up than prior Windows releases).  But I still get errors.  Sometimes I get one NIS error, sometimes two, sometimes none.  I don't know if the problem is in the shut down process or start-up process with the new Windows 10.  See two images below.  If I click the no Virus protection message I get the pop-up message in the second image asking me to choose Norton Internet Security or Windows Defender.  When I click this, sometimes nothing happens and it freezes my laptop.

UPDATE: I should add that this problem actually existed before Windows 10.  This forum said back then as long as the green check mark displayed in NIS, don't worry.  So I turned off the security alert messages that kept displaying whenever I started up my laptop.  Now with Windows 10 it is just so much more weird and also the Windows Community support team is calling it an incompatibility between Windows and Norton.
