I have an HP AMD A8-6500 3.50 GHz 64-bit PC with 8.00 GB of RAM. My ISP download speed is only about 30 Mbps. I tried to shutdown my PC yesterday and received the dreaded "Windows is downloading updates - Don't turn off your PC" message. Two hours (TWO HOURS) later, the PC finally shutdown. The next day when I turned on my PC, I again received that dreaded message "Don't turn of your PC - This will take a while". Two and an half hours (TWO AND A HALF HOURS) later, my PC finally booted up so I could use it. Four and a half hours to download and install updates, I don't know what all was installed and I don't even know if I needed the updates. From the little I could find, it was not even a security update. Just something about Feature Updates ver 1809. My other PC is running Linux Mint ver 18.3 and I can't remember a download and update that took more than 15 minutes, and that was rare. Windows could learn from Linux.
