Windows 10 Privacy

So as not so side-track other threads I thought this thread could be for concerns / news regarding Win10 privacy issues.

Microsoft is allowing itself to detect pirated games on your Windows 10 PC

DESPITE being generally well-received, Windows 10 has been confronted with some bitter criticism concerning a series of alleged privacy obstructions.

The latest of these stems from Microsoft’s End User License Agreement, or EULA, with WinBeta reporting that Microsoft has reserved the right to check your system for “playing counterfeit games, or using unauthorised hardware peripheral devices.”

"Enough silence, Microsoft, what are you doing with our data?"

well perhaps ugly is unfair, basic looking might be better but it is highly customisable.the only down side is that it doesn't auto update,i have to keep remembering to check if there is a new version after a windows 10 update.

step:

i recommend O&O ShutUp ugly but light and easy to use.

I've been using that for a while now myself.  Ugly?  I don't think so.

Microsoft Rethinking Windows 10 Privacy with New Tools ?

Hi F4E,

I haven't bothered with any third party tools.  I've just gone through and manually set my privacy settings, which is good enough for me... for now.  wink

Cheers!

Krusty13:

Here is a tool that puts all Win10 privacy settings in one place.  I believe it is a portable program so shouldn't need to be installed.

I haven't used it but here is a thread at wilderssecurity.com which includes some screenshots.

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/ashampoo-anti-spy-for-windows-10.379666/

From what I've seen it does not do anything that is not already available within Win10 but having all settings in one place might make it easier for some.

Hi, Krusty. Downloaded and tried this tool as it looks good, BUT the settings don't always stick.

I deselected ALL. After a while I went back to it, and Microfail had switched some of the items back on !

Why does this not surprise me ?

The second time I launched it the settings did seem to stick, so to anyone who might be interested in trying this out, it might be worth checking each time you log on if you install this tool.
