Windows 10 update error after installing NIS

After installing NIS 22.5.5.15 two days ago, I now have a problem with a brand new Windows 10 Home 64-bit system. The Windows 10 system was clean installed from an ISO that was downloaded from Microsoft the same day (5 December) and all available updates were successfully applied before NIS was installed. Since putting NIS in, NIS appears to be fully functional, but Windows has been generating the following error message:

"Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.211.2070.0) - Error 0x80070643"

This appears to be the same as what was described in the following thread, but the update to NIS that was issued since then did not fix the problem.

Is it still considered safe to ignore the error for now, and is there any new information about whether Norton is working with Microsoft to produce a patch to eliminate the problem?
