My Windows 7 action center reports that Norton Internet Security reports it is turned off.
After clicking on the turn on now button in the action center, I got the main Norton Internet Security board. Every item is on.
Insight protection is on.
Antivirus is on.
Antisypware is on.
SONAR protection is on.
Smart Firewall is on.
Intrusion prevention is on.
EMAIL protection is on.
Identity Safe is on.
Browser protection is on.
Safe surfing is on.
Download intelligence is on.
To fix the problem, I've tried these two things:
(1) I've run a Norton Internet Security quick scan of my computer.
(2) I've run a live update to update NIR files.
Neither worked.
How do I satisfy Norton (and Windows 7) and turn Norton Internet Security on? I want it on.
BTW, I 'd just completed a weekly backup of my computer when I received the Windows 7 action center error.
Thanks for any help,
Mark

I rebooted my computer about 5 hours after the creation of this thread and there are no warning message(s) from the action center of Windows 7.
Norton Internet Security is turned on.
Well, that's a head scracher as well.
What caused the error message in Windows 7 action center to be turned on? What turned NIS off?
What caused the error message to be turned off? What turned NIS on?
Any thoughts?

Mark,
There are several possibilities. When the computer booted up the first time a couple of the bytes got scrambled causing a problem. Another possibility is windows defender. If you have not turned it off or removed it it will want to be your primary defense. This will conflict with NIS. After the reboot they got their act in order and defender should be off and NIS on so that it can work without conflict.
Hope this helps. Let us know. We'll leave a light on.
