Windows 7 crashing - problem never solved??

I have had several Windows 7 crashes while connected to a company network.  After doing a lot of research, I came across this thread:

Has this problem never been solved?  It has been over a year since it was identified.  My only choice right now are to disable the netbios over TCP/IP, losing all my functionality of networking within a workgroup with Windows XP machines or to uninstall Norton Internet Security??

 

These aren't good options!
