Installed NIS 2009 with Win 7 Update on a Win 7 RTM PC. Used Removal Tool to uninstall due to a multitude of errors. I installed Microsoft Security Essentials to tide me over until Norton gets it's act together with respect to a Win 7 update that works.
Since then, I am getting error messages in the Windows 7 Action Center to the effect that it does not detect my MSE installation, and to click on a button to start it (even though the program is already running). Once I do this, all is well untill my next restart.
Is it possible that the Norton Removal Tool does not do a thorough job of removing all vestiges of the original installation in Windows 7 (since, I am sure, it was designed more for Windows XP and Vista)?
If this is the case, can we expect an update for the removal tool at some time in the near future (especially since we are not seeing a Windows 7 compatibility patch at this point in time?
