Windows 7 restore knock out NIS

My MS 7 laptop (HP)had to do a system restore (to days after logging on at motel, that I stayed at) In the process it knocked out NIS that I just renewed a few days before hand. What  would be the a best  way to proceeded. When I try and run Norton it can't find director. Should I uninstall NIS completely (if MS7 restore took out Norton from registry, would I need special uninstall from Norton to remove files from hard drive) or try and reload NIS over what's there and have that change the registry. Could that just screw up the registry even more. Any help welcome.
