Hello,
I tried following some of the solutions on here but they don't seem to be for Windows 8.
I started to get this problem only after the new year.
Any help is appreciated.

Any solution or anyone know where I can get support for this problem?
Does technical support read these? Several days later and no reply.
Still no support or answer.
Does anyone know where I can go to get help on this. Any official channels out there to find a solution?
Batman,
Sorry you have had no answer -- I've been reading as I'm sure others have but frankly what you have posted does not explain anything to me
Did you check out this thread
http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Drive-B-Other-Error/m-p/451992#M46285
although it deals with Windows 7
Since you are on Windows 8 you may need to go to the current N 360 V20/2013 ....
BTW If Windows 8 is like WIndows 7 it automatically defrags itself during idle time and I'd let it do that -- everyone of my Windows 7 disks reports 0% fragmentation when I check them.
Thanks
Sorry for the delay in any response.
As you can see there have been many views of your post, but sometimes no one seems to know what to suggest.
On thing to note is that you are using an older, V6 version of 360. This does not officially support Win8. You should upgrade your product, at no cost, to the 2013 version.
You can also check this post http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Drive-B-Other-Error/m-p/453504/highlight/true#M46418
See if that helps.
Hello,
It didn't give me an update available notice for Windows 8 after upgrading so I didn't think there was one.
When I updated the problem went away. So my problem has been solved. thanks.
As a note here is an interesting attached image of a screenshot I took which didn't recognize the Norton Downloader as having any reputation information.
We cannot see the image yet, but will check back later for that.
Glad to see you have things working again.
Hugh- I am having the same problem on my son's laptop - W8 - Drive B: other error when running optimization. However you are suggesting Win 8 does it automatically anyway? -- I am not familiar with win 8 other than trying to fix it when he gets himself into trouble (he's only 13) I miss XP. Thanks! John

Alden,
I can't give you much of an answer -- this problem seems to be associated with Norton 360 -- is that what you have on your son's laptop? --from the list I get when I google on the error message .......
Can you tell me the make and model identification of your son's laptop so I can check the specification and see what it has inside as a hard drive.
You might try going inside your Norton and finding the defragmentation / optimization setting and turning it OFF since as I indicated before Windows 7 and 8 do a good job themselves of doing it automatically in the background.
On my NIS it is under Settings / General / Norton Tasks but N 360 may differ.
