Windows Defender is trying to take over since Creators Update

I had a totally unexpected surprise when I powered up this morning - the installation of Creators Update. There was a "We want everything to be ready for you" message followed by three sections of the Update: 1. Edge 2. Mail and 3. Store.

The only way to get a 100% installation was to go through and tick the lot, so I now have Edge, as well as IE11 and Chrome (which was a temporary solution to IE11 performance issues a few weeks ago).

I also have Defender. and its version of Norton Vault. I don't want it - their forum is full of complaints and problems with it eg unable to update. I also appreciate the fact that having two Firewall/Anti-virus etc programs usually means they will clash; so I will be looking to find out if I can remove it.

In another thread there, an FM said that if you have Defender you no longer need Norton, McAfee etc so I've asked bluntly if this is what they're saying.

I like Norton, I'm used to it & I get great help here so I want to stick with Norton, Can you suggest anything that I can post there in favour of keeping Norton & rejecting Defender? Or is that too 'political'?

PS I couldn't find a suitable Label eg Norton products.
