Norton and Spybot S&D have never been friends and never will be. I've had Norton go off because of Spybot S&D, mostly because of Immunize option. Then there is that known problem with the Tea timer thingy. I never use Tea Timer because I've read it doesn't like norton. All virus and spyware programs like to watch that host file and so if you make any changes to it, you could set off the alarm.  I also noticed if I don't undo Immunized option in S&D it will cause other scanners to screw up. such as Online virus scanners.  as for why norton Security inspector deletes the host file list, I guess it thinks thats bad and yes it's normal of Norton to do that and I will point out you can re add them after you've ran the Security inspector.  Just remember that if you run other programs with S&D to undo all the changes first before you scan or you'll be typing cryptic spyware findings into google forsure.

Cheers

I have uninstalled Spybot, rebooted and I try to put manualy entrys but Security Inspectror erased them again.
Is it OK to turn of option to not check for IP adresses?

OK,another thing. You tell that Spybot and Norton is “not in love”,but why host file is empty on clean installed VISTA SP1?
(as I mentoined in my previos post,I checked image file of Acronis which contains only VISTA SP1 and no Spybot)

You don't have to uninstall Spybot S&D, you can keep using it along side with Norton just make sure you understand that that Immunized option is Tweaking your System.

Your host file by default is empty, Spybot S&D adds address as a means of protection to your system, when you hit the Immunized button they are added. it also adds addresss to your Browser to block., those address are known bad guys and are added to your host file to protect you.

When you hit the Security Inspectror on Norton it will detect the entrys in your Host file by S&D and remove them. thats why I say they don't love each other. Microsoft Defender will also do the same thing. it will detect changes made to your host file. if any are made. if you made them thats good. if someone else made them, thats bad as we know.
