I've used Windows Live Mail for about five years. For some reason now, it just won't go online. I get the following pop-up window, "You are currently working offline. Would you like to go online now?" I've clicked on every opportunity to "go online" and nothing works. As a result, none of my incoming mail will download, nor my outgoing mail upload.
Internet works fine, and the only way I can read mail is by going to hotmail's website, for example. I've shutdown and restarted Windows Live Mail, as well as having rebooted my computer many times. I've shut my DSL off and on several times.
I sometimes get the following popup, and that's why I'm posting on this forum. Does anyone have any ideas of what may be switched off?
"Windows Live Mail cannot connect to the Internet, possibly because an antivirus or firewall program won't allow it. Make sure any antivirus or firewall programs on your computer allow Windows Live Mail (wlmail.exe) to access the Internet.
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8004108D"
I've gone through Norton 360's menus and can't find anything that may be causing the problem. Have looked at all Windows Live Mail menus to see if there's something I can check or uncheck to cause Windows Live Mail to go online. Can't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I just realized I have given you the link to one of the threads about the error, while I meant to give you the link to the board where you can find several threads about the same issue.
Here it its:

Sorry about that.
Hi, Rainbow_2,
Thanks so much for both your replies. I read them both thoroughly, especially the first one. But here's what I did, and I'm hoping this helps others, too. I should go onto Microsoft's blog to which you directed me and post there too, because apparently a lot of others are having the same problem. Bottom line is that the problem has nothing to do with Norton (in spite of the error message I'd gotten).
I used the sledgehammer approach and used Microsoft's Restore Point feature. I used the most recently created point, which was about a week ago. I'd never used it before, and not only did it work flawlessly, but it solved the problem.
Again, thanks for your help!

You're welcome Dan.
I am glad you got it sorted out. Thanks for letting us know how you did it.
Laura
You bet, Laura. And thanks again for the solution detail you provided.
Although my method worked, when you use something like the Restore Point feature, you don't really learn much about what the problem really was. Kinda like doing a program reinstall to solve some problem. But it was so extremely annoying, I didn't care how the heck I solved it!
