System: NIS 2011 with latest updates, Windows XP/SP3, Windows Media Player v. 11
After I installed NIS 2011, I have used Windows Media Player once, and it has never worked again. WMP does not open at all, and it does not matter if I am trying to download a media file, or click on an associated file, or click on the WMP desktop icon, or click on the .EXE file directly.
Note: the problem here is not limited to downloading files; WMP doesn't open at all.
I thought of uninstalling WMP and reinstalling it, but a warning message popped up that warned that uninstalling WMP may cause problems.
Have you made sure that Windows Media player is allowed in the Smart Firewall? You may have to create a special rule allowing it or perhaps a need to open up specific ports used by that program. Thanks.
