Can someone please help me!
Firstly, I am still using Windows 8. I am waiting for Microsoft to roll over Windows 10 to me.
I switched on my PC this morning and downloaded the latest updates from Norton. This appears to have worked because the "green tick" was displayed in the Norton Control Panel. The Norton Control Panel requested that I run the "quick scan" option which I attempted to do. Here is where the problem starts: the quick scan and full system scan options wouldn't respond so I rebooted the PC in the hope that it would fix the problem. On restarting the PC I couldn't access the Norton Control Panel, and none of the short cut icons will respond. I am also receiving the following messages from the Windows Action Center:
Spyware and Unwanted Software Protection (important)
Windows Defender and Norton Internet Security are both turned off
Virus Protection (important)
Norton Internet Security is no longer protecting your PC.
There was a thread on a very similar problem in April/May time entitled "Window Security & Maintenance say no antispyware". It appears that this problem was fixed by an upgrade made by Norton.
I have tried to run an upgrade from the Norton website but I received a message telling me that "no Norton security is installed on this PC". My Norton account tells me I still have 157 days left on my current subscription. I have also tried to reinstall the original software using my key card but it will not work.
Sorry for the long message but I don't know how to fix this problem.
Thank you.
