Windows updates affected after full system scan

Hi,

On Friday 29 April 2011 I bought an Asus Eee PC 1015 netbook along with Norton 360 All-In-One 5.0 Security. I installed the Norton Security straight away.

On Saturday 30 April, the netbook automatically uploaded and installed 40 'Windows Updates' at the end of my session. Upon starting up again the following morning (Sunday 1 May) the netbook "configured" those 'Windows Updates', apparently without any problem.

On the same Sunday afternoon I ran a full 'system scan' with the Norton 360 Security . When it was finished I closed the netbook down and before it actually closed it again automatically uploaded and installed 40 'Windows Updates', apparently the same 40 'Updates' that had been installed and configured earlier on.

This suggests that the Norton Security scan had decided to remove or neutralize those original 40 'Updates' - clearly it's a problem if that happens every time I run a new system scan. Furthermore, when I powered-up the netbook again an hour or so later, this time it could not even "configure" this second batch of 'Updates' that had apparently been installed to replace the first batch.

Clearly then, there appears to be 2 main issues with the Norton Scan i.e. firstly with it apparently 'uninstalling' previously installed and 'configured' 'Windows Updates' and secondly, with it now causing the netbook not even to be able to 'configure' any new or replacement 'Windows Updates' .

Are these common issues between Norton 360 All-In-One 5.0 Security and 'Windows Updates'?

In any event, what can be done to rectify the situation?

Is it possible to 'restore/reset' the netbook to the way it was immediately after it was first powered-up after I bought it on Friday 29 April 2011 or as it was immediately as it was after I had installed the Norton Security?

When replying perhaps you can keep your explanation as simple as possible as I do not really have much of a clue about computing or 'Updates' etc etc.

Many thanks,
