Windows Vista password not working after installing Norton 360

Hi, I installed Norton 360 yesterday - I was prompted to restart the computer and now my windows password won't work, but the hint is still correct.  I am the only user, and I do have the Recovery DVD for Windows Vista... Can someone help me! I really don't want to wipe the contents of my computer because I'm not sure if the Norton backup in our package would have happened yet.. I'm not the most computer savvy person..

Check that Caps Lock is not on.  It's easy to bump that button on your keyboard.

Thanks - CAPS is definitely not on, we've been using the same password for ages so haven't forgotten

Try booting into safe mode.

Be aware that safe mode uses the "real" administrator account, it's not your user account.

Most people never setup the real admin account with a password.
