I have a Dell 6410 running windows XP. I have been having a series of times when Windows does not shut down/does not log user off and gets generally hung-up. The version of NIS I am running is 18.5.0.125. A reply to a previous message conveying this problem suggested I look in the event viewer. When this problem happened last night (had to press and hold down the power switch - not good - to shut down) then waited and restarted, the System event viewer had a number (at least 10) of "Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the NIS service" errors. Any help? Thanks.
