I un-installed Norton 360 (with the intent of re-installing it), because it was blocking the installation of XP SP3. Now the system won't boot in any mode (normally, safe mode, Last known good configuration, etc.). It stops at the file "agp440.sys", and just sits there.
How can I get past this? I'm able to get to the recovery console (dos prompt), but I don't know what file to add/change/delete to make it boot.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Amazing what Google can do! I just searched on that agp file name and the first reference is to:
Problems when Windows XP tries to load the Agp440.sys service
[ ... ]
If you try to restart your computer in Safe mode, your computer may stop responding (hang) when Windows XP tries to load the Agp440.sys service.
CAUSE
This issue may occur if Windows XP tries to use an incompatible motherboard chipset video driver during startup.
[ ... ]
It then gives detailed instructions on how to disable the AGP service using the recovery console .... so I'll let you get the MS KB document. I suggest you print it out so you can check each step as you do it.
I hope that does it but please check first to see if there are any other suggestions from anyone who has encountered this.
