Norton 360 is reporting that WinZip Courier 4.0's installation file contains a virus. The virus is in msbf0d.tmp and is (Suspicious.Cloud.7.F).
When Norton 360 blocks the virus, the installer terminates with the following error: "Error 1723: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
So I did.
Here is the response from WinZip:
"Would you please inform Norton of the false positive they are reporting? They need to update their virus definitions.
They react better to a customer of theirs.
The workaround is to turn off Norton, install Courier, then turn it back on."
What should a consumer do in this case? Are the forums a place to ask Norton to re-assess a particular Windows Installer? Has anyone else had this problem with WinZip Courier 4.0?
Thanks for your help!
Mark

Thanks, HarryP, for that advice and the link. I’ll definitely post it as a false positive. Mark
