Wireless Printer Wasting Paper

I use an inexpensive Brother wireless B&W printer that wastes paper by printing local host info on a separate sheet of paper prior to doing the print job I need. It's not always done this but has been consistently doing so for the last 4 months. Not sure why and Brother's help site gave me instructions for fixing it but their fix did not stop this problem. Here is exactly what prints on the 1st sheet of every job before processing my print requested job:

GET /eSCL/ ScannerStatus HTTP/1.1

Host: localhost                                        Any ideas how I can prevent this, going forward?

Hello Gary. From the help article I found it appears this is an issue which belongs to Microsoft. If you followed the instructions within the below article, and, your Windows install is currently up to date, make a report to Microsoft via the feedback in Windows. It affects printers that are connected via USB and wireless alike.

Sure sounds unrelated to anything by Norton.

Is this what you used to try to fix your problem?
