With Norton Do I need Malwarebytes

With Norton Do I need Malwarebytes ?

I've been using the real-time Pro version of Malwarebytes for years with anti-viruses.  Just two things to recommend.  Install the anti-virus first.  Second, when you install Malwarebytes, make sure under Windows Security Center that "Always register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center" is turned OFF!

whatever you decide, good luck.

Disable the Limited Periodic Scanning in Microsoft Defender

You can allow the periodic scanning feature of Windows Defender. That works similar to using Malwarebytes periodically on demand.

No scanner is 100%. The concept of layering is important. Which is another problem with norton. It should work with windows defender

No single A/V product can protect 100 % of the time from the tens of thousands of new malware threats released every day. Having a multi layered protection plan is always a good idea.

You can use Malwarebytes free version as an on demand scanner alongside your real time Norton protection. You call Malwarebytes on your schedule, daily, weekly, monthly, depending on how vulnerable you feel.

Many users here also run the full real time version of Malwarebytes alongside Norton with no issues. If you wish to do this, there are some exclusions that are recommeded, but not necessarily required.

Malwarebytes Free as a second opinion on-demand scanner.
