I am very surprised that Norton is still in existance... It would have to be the worst of its kind... It robs resources, fails to detect threats and causes a multitude of problems associated with external drives and their files...
People would be better off allowing viruses to infect their computers, as its just so much easier to remove them that having Norton screw up your system...

Semantec should be ashamed of themselves... The company must have been founded by ex Micro$oft employees, as I cannot fathom the stupidity and uselessness of their products...
Norton is extremely light on resources and this is an objective fact, you can see for your self by launching the Windows task manager and look for the RAM memory and CPU Norton utilizes when idle.
You can also see reviews on PC magazine and PC world or video reviews by users on Youtube that test Norton against malware on real life conditions and then make up your opinion.
It is a fact that back in 2006 Norton products were really heavy, giving Symantec bad reputation, but this is not the case anymore. From 2007 and on, every new product has been lighter than the previous one.
If you are complaining about a product you purchased and you are still not convinced, you could ask for a refund.
If your PC performs really slow then it might be an unrelated to Norton issue. Perform common maintenance task such as: unistalling unnecessary programs from control panel (old or trial software, programs of the same type, security products than run simultaneously, toolbars etc); disk error checking; disk cleanup to get rid of temp files; disk defragmentation.
