Hi guys,
I'm using Windows XP SP3 and currently the 2012 version of NIS. I would have upgraded a long time ago, but the many bugs in the earlier NIS 2013 versions kept me away from this.
Now, I've downloaded the newst patch (full version, ca. 142 MB), called "NIS-ESD-20-2-1-22-GE.exe" (GE = german, because I'm german) and want to install it.
Before I do so and to avoid unnecessary time waste, I've got two simple (haha) questions:
1.: I've read many times, that especially on XP, NIS 2013 had many bugs. Is this after the 20.2.1.22 patch finally fixed or shouldn't I upgrade to 2013, as long, as I'm using XP?
2. I want to keep my local vault. The only option to do so, seems to be, that I'm installing 2013 "on-top" of 2012. Because I uninstalled NIS in the past before upgrading to a newer version always with the Removal Tool, my question is: Is that procedure safe and "ok"? I don't want that this maybe decreasing my system security instead of a clean install - only because I want the local vault.
Thanks for answering my questions. I'm hoping that here are still at least a few users, who are running XP onto their machines, that already upgraded and can tell me, how it works. But of course, I would like to hear the advices from every other user, too!
THX from germany!
