Wrong Account Monitored

Hello, on my computer I have 2 accounts from my child.   Acct 1 has very limited access on what can be done & Acct 2, which has more access.  I have NOF set  accordingly.

However for some reason, Norton thinks I'm logged in with Acct 1 on the computer, even though I'm logged in with Acct 2 (thus Acct 2 on the computer is being used, but it's using Acct 1's setting thru Norton)

Hello choliscott,

I found that after installing NF, I got in problems trying to couple the NF account in the windows account. Last time I installed NF I coupled computer, child and windowsaccount in the webinterface settings of NF. After that all the accounts were working fine, except for the problems they are still working on by Norton.

Hi Katie,

Per my email, I'm having this problem as well. My wife's computer account is noted as "unmonitored", and I checked to ensure that there was nothing tying my daughter's account to hers. However, when my wife tries to check her email online, it is blocked as category "webmail" and she gets the dog with a sign screen. When I checked the logs, the webmail login attempt shows up under my daughter's account. I thought maybe it was because my daughter's account was logged in on the PC, but I checked and it was not. Also, my daughter does not have rights to log into my wife's account.

I read the last entry by the other poster re: coupled accounts, but don't quite understand it. My kids use only one computer, and that's the one being monitored and configured in NOF. But I don't have rules applied to the computer... it's per account.

Thanks!

Mike

Yes they are.

Hi choliscott,

Could you go to the system tray and select  the Norton Family icon, then select Edit account to see if the two accounts have been associated with the children's profiles online properly?

Thanks,

Katie

What I tried doing is uninstalling NF & reinstalling the latest version  (or at least the latest that it provided on the "download Norton Family" link.  So far it seems to be working, except for not getting any emails or the account interface not listing what sites are going to or attempted to goto

I see... mine is a brand new/clean install using the version that was available as of like last Wednesday. I don't believe it has been updated since then.

I'm still having this problem, even after reinstalling the client. Despite my wife's profile NOT being monitored (per the setup and per the Norton icon in the taskbar), it still would not allow her to access her webmail UNTIL I put in an exception under my kid's accounts to allow it! Oddly, it DID let her log on to Facebook with no issues. So why in the world NF block webmail when she is logged in, but not Facebook... and why did it block webmail for my wife's profile but not mine?

Perplexed... :smileyfrustrated:

A bit more info on this... after a little while, I checked and it was my son's profile that was flagged for access to a "Blocked Web Site" (webmail2.insightbb.com). He WAS the last person to use it before my wife tried to access her email, but I verified that his account was NOT logged on at the time. I also verified that my wife's profile was NOT associated with my son's account. So why her attempts to access webmail were blocked under HIS profile is beyond me.

Hi Supermike,

When your wife logs onto the PC using her unmonitored account and her account gets monitored, please check on the Norton Family icon in system tray and see if the "View My House Rules" option is greyed out.

Thanks,

Katie
