Wrong advice from Norton Chat

I thought I should share a "scary" experience with Norton Chat. Had I followed the initial advice of the person assigned to chat with me it could have been a real mess. I will simply paste the chat text here FYI - It seems there should be some sort of knowledge about common scams using a false Norton logo, etc. Here is the chat - I deleted names - don't care to get anyone in trouble - just thought this was something requiring attention - clearer advice or?? - I understand the final advice was correct but had I not found - mid-chat - a warning re the same issue I called about it could have been a real problem:

Yes that is my email. I have received 2-3 times a pop up appearing to be from Norton advising I need to immediately upgrade an Adobe Flash player as there is a virus or whatever. Is this from Norton or a scam? If it is a scam, Norton may want to send an email to subscribers to beware of this. . .

I can connect to your computer to further diagnose your concern, while you sit back and watch. This is a secure connection, and I won't access any personal information on your computer. To protect your privacy, please close confidential and personal information.  If at any point you are concerned, you can disconnect me by clicking on the [End] button. I'd encourage you to view the troubleshooting from your end. If for any reason you need to leave your computer, let me know via the chat window and we'll disconnect the remote session and resume once you're back. Shall we go ahead with the remote connection?

No, I just want to know if the "upgrade Adobe Flash player immediately" notices are from Norton

If the pop up message is coming from your Norton 360 window then it is legitimate.

While I was waiting to chat I also checked on Internet re any fake Adobe Flash Player issues and there is much posted there - just found - that says to NOT ever upgrade as it is malware. . .so now I am confused. . you tell me to go ahead and upgrade Adobe but many sites say beware is is malware scam. . .so???

A: at 8:29:42
You are right there are many fake Adobe update.
Ron : at 8:30:05
The pop ups bear Norton logo, same info as usual Norton interface.
A: at 8:30:11
People just update it anywhere that's why they get a virus.
A: at 8:30:22
You need to update it from the Adobe website.
A: at 8:30:33
From the official Adobe website.
