It's been years, and still the horror continues. Norton Internet Security has once again wrongly flagged a file (dbpoweramp-codec-[tag_from_filename].exe, from dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-utility.htm), with the WS.Reputation.1 tag of shame. This tag is worse than useless; it creates problems for legitimate software creators and the people who use their products. I have yet to have software quarantined as "dangerous" due to WS.Reputation.1 that actually WAS dangerous. What is "reputation" based on? Has my software been sleeping around? >> Symantec has an overzealous approach to security and an apparent assumption that NIS users are idiots. Can we disable WS.Reputation.1 scanning? I've disabled heuristic protection (another waste of time) and now I'll change Low-Risk items to "Ask Me" to see if that helps. >> By the way, Symantec, I do not want to speak with an agent who'll ask scripted questions - I know how to retrieve files from quarantine. I want to send in wrongly-flagged files to bring them to your attention. >> Category: Download Insight Date & Time,Risk,Activity,Status,Filename 2/19/2017 9:47:15 PM,Medium,Download Insight analyzed dBpoweramp-Codec-[Tag_From_Filename].exe,Removed, ...\dBpoweramp-Codec-[Tag_From_Filename].exe
