Xbox and Windows Media Center

Everything was working fine a few days ago, I could use my new XBox 360 slim and Windows Media Center to stream movies from my computer to the TV.  Yesterday Norton Internet Security 2010 started blocking it.  I have all the required program controls set to 'allow', have added the suggested ports (from someones previous post) and even if I disable the smart firewall Norton still blocks mcrmgr.exe and ehshell.exe.  The movie will play for about one minute and then Norton kicks in and blocks the above mentioned files even though they are set to allow.  I am pulling my hair out and going crazy, any idea what to do?

Thanks - Kathy

No, no notifications, but my Norton icon in my task bar changes, kind of looks like it has yellow horns.  When I check the recent history there is an entry that says "Unauthorized access blocked" and the actor is Ehome/Mcrmgr.exe which is the Windows Media Manager.  This is time stamped the exact time that the movie stops streaming to the TV.

The Norton system tray icon you are seeing is indicating that Norton is running in SIlent Mode, which suppresses alerts and suspends background tasks when, among other things, a Windows Media Center Extender session is detected.  The "Unauthorized access blocked" entry is a Norton Product Tamper Protection event and indicates that Windows Media Manager attempted to access a Norton process or file and was blocked in order to prevent any interference with Norton's operation.  These types of interactions occur all the time and normally should not affect the ability of Windows Media Manager to perform its own tasks.  It's hard to say if either SIlent Mode or Norton Product Tamper Protection is causing the issue since you would see the same behaviors for each of them even it your Windows Media Center were working perfectly.  Any changes to your system around the time this all started?  The following Microsoft article offers some suggestions for things you might check:
