Ever since my Norton updated, I started getting the Error 8507,125 when I try to back up. I did as suggested in the knowledgebase. First looking for non-Norton security to uninstall it. There are none. Then I did the full uninstall including running the removal and repair tool. I reinstalled the product (22.21.1.151) and still get the error. Norton backup has worked flawlessly for years. Now its broken and I'm not a happy customer.
I may have found the solution. It seems when I click the yellow button saying "Run Smart Scan" and let the scan run. Norton breaks. It is only by turning off the computer and then turning it back on that Norton functions properly again.

Yes....after fresh install... run Norton LiveUpdate several times + machine Restart (not Shut down) + repeat run Norton LiveUpdate several times + machine Restart (not Shut down). Afterwards....allow machine idle time for Norton to settle in and run Background Tasks. I've seen on occasion some lag time before product is completely updated to the latest version. I'll run Full Scan after product updates to the latest version.
3. How can I manually install these patches?
This patch is ONLY available via LiveUpdate, and is being released in a phased manner. You may need to run LiveUpdate and reboot a few times before your product is completely updated to the latest version.
Yes to both. I even set up and tried a cloud backup with the same error.
Hmm...as test...just ran cloud backup ...okay.
Okay, since you ran Remove Only and reinstalled from your Norton account.
And you've run Norton LiveUpdate several times + machine Restart (not Shut down) + repeat run Norton LiveUpdate several times + machine Restart (not Shut down).
And your Norton product runs okay... otherwise.
To resolve this problem, uninstall any non-Norton security product that is present in the computer.
STEP 1
Uninstall any non-Norton security product
You can also read the program documentation or contact the program manufacturer for instructions on how to remove a non-Norton security product from your computer.

Is the knowledgebase document that Norton pointed me to.
I don't backup online as it takes too long. I use portable drives. I deleted the backup on one of them to see if that made a difference but it did not.
