I am now two and one half days behind in creating my website, because this exceedingly dangerous piece of code completely and repeatedly blocked access to the web on both Chrome and Internet Explorer. It was very difficult to manually remove it from my computer, which was my only recourse since Norton has this coded as a minor threat, one that didn't need to be isolated and removed from my computer. The web tells me that this has been associated primarily with Macs rather than PCs, however it made a complete mess of my Windows 7 Toshiba laptop. I have spent a great deal of money on Norton products over the years and now wonder about my sanity in doing so.
So word to the wise, treat this malicious software with extreme caution, and Norton, please reclassify it. (You have given this a safety certificate.)
Believe it sneaked in because I had Norton set with recommended settings, except for the start up process.
It sneaked in on a notice to upgrade Java.
It made it impossible to download Norton Power Eraser, as no action when pushing the "Download Now" button.
In my attempts to remove it from my computer, its code regenerated the parts of it that I was erasing, almost as fast I was deleting. Highly frustrating.
Please improve yourselves.
