"You are Protected" and "Fix Now"

I've been a faithful Norton user for years and there are two things that drive me nuts. The first is this "Splash Screen" pop up that shows up several times a week.
norton.jpgI don't need to be reminded that I'm protected if Norton is doing a good job protecting me. I only need to be reminded if I'm not protected. Is there some setting that I'm missing for "turn off the pop-up that makes Norton look like an insecure child that constantly needs attention."

Which brings me to: "FIX NOW".  I get this message on a few of my devices  that may go several weeks without being turned on. When I use them after this interval, I'm warned in big red letters that I need to fix Norton security. I don't understand why I need to manually intervene on what should be a normal process when I start up the computer. If it needs updating or a scan needs to be done then I am more than happy if Norton would just take care of it, just like it does on my other devices. I have my settings set to automatically update and scan, so what more does the software need from me?

Is it the screen you have in your image that pops up several times a week? I have never seen that screen come up on its own on any of my systems. There are little pop outs at the bottom right of the computer screen that may notify me of Norton tasks that are running or have run. If it is these small pop outs, you can disable those in Norton Settings - Administrative Settings. Scroll down to Norton Task Notification and turn that off.

For your Fix Now question. If you did leave things alone, Norton would eventually run a LiveUpdate and a Quick Scan. The notification you see is to remind you that you do not have the latest protection available, and you could be susceptible to any new malware that was released since you last had the computer on and getting updated.
