If any Norton product requires user's attention, you see a notice like this:
The user can only click on the "Fix now" button.
Before I let Norton try to fix the problem on its own, I want to know what's the problem is and what Norton is going to try to fix it.
I don't like it, when a program say "Hey, i found a problem on your computer, but I won't tell you what it is! HAHA!"...
Solution:
Add a button "Show details" to the notice, which will open a window with detailed information about the detected problems and how Norton will try to fix them.
Or show these details, when the user click the "Fix now" button... so the user has finally to click a second time to start the automatic repair action.
I totally agree. Isn't there an update Norton can do to allow us to view details, or at least view what the "issue" is that Norton sees. In my case, I have decided to set IS not to scan outgoing emails for viruses. It therefore has an orange exclamation mark in the bar at the bottom of my computer, and says it needs attention and wants fixed. When I click on Fix It Now, it turns outgoing email scanning back on so I then have to turn it back off.
But if I don't click "Fix It" I worry that maybe there is SOMETHING ELSE that needs attention, and there is no way to know without going through this fight with IS to turn scanning back on. I agree with the above - there should be a "show details" kind of option.
