I have lost a full week of work with a connection that is reduced from 1 GB to 50 megs. For the first time I encounter the most deplorable service. I have called everyday this past week, first spending an hour waiting, and then getting the run-around. My problem was supposed to be escalated to a higher tech level. Got many promises to be called back, withing 48 hrs, then within 24 hrs, then after days and hours of frustration, a chat manager, absolutely promised it would happen today, between 3 and 5 pm. Of course nothing came me way.
It is clear that when I turned off Norton Vulnerability Protection, everything works perfectly. I have done a complete reinstall, and have followed another post with instruction which produced no different results.
Question 1- would anyone known how to fix this?
Question 2 - what is the best antivirus software alternative to Norton. I am ready to quickly move on as I cannot afford this slow down any longer
Has anyone experience with BITDEFENDER Antivirus for Mac?

It would be helpful if you can post screenshots by running Google's default suggestion for 'speed test' and also the Speedtest app please. Please run the tests with and without Vulnerability Protection enabled. This would help us see the difference. Thank you.

Some speed tests work fine but I am starting to think that this may be a DNS issue. several websites take a long time to start to load but then seem to run OK unless they have many other links to outside sites on the pages.

I have that same problem. Every time I call, all they tell me is to 'reinstall'. Which I have done several times. When you go to Advanced Settings/ Firewall and turn off "Vulnerability Protection" my speed comes back up to my normal 700 MB Download speed. When i turn it off it tells me Norton is no longer protecting my computer; therefore i have to have it turned on. With it turned on, my best download is 85 MB. I also am considering switching to another software application because I cannot get anyone to help with this problem. Does anyone know of a better software? I am running an I-mac Catalina 10.15.7 with all updates and 8.6.3 Norton, the latest update.

You should try to contact them again. Looks like they barely monitor forums and even reply. We have had our issues fix via Norton chat support since ages.
