I was trying to update from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Everything downloaded and the upgrade began, but then it stopped and rolled everything back. The only thing I could think of was a Trojan that I had stupidly manually quarantined 2 years ago.
This PC was infected with the ZeroAccess rootkit, it was in the Google\Destop\Install Directory. Back, then nothing seemed to be able to find it and/or remove it. I believe I ended up reformatting the drive and installing the OS from a CD. However, it made a copy of the previous Windows directory named Windows.old. I did not want that, so I deleted it. That process deleted everything down to that Google\Destop\Install Directory when it got there File Explorer either became unresponsive or closed out, leaving the directory.
2 years later, its still there and now since its not in one of the normal places. All of the removal tools that I have found cannot find it. I also tried deleting the directories via command line. No effect.
Is there a tool that you can point at a directory structure and wipe it out (no questions asked, does not care what in it)? If you go down the file structure, it does not even have a file in it that can be seen. It lists two folder, that you cannot see in explorer or on a command line.
