Norton 360 crashing after new patch updates

Greetings.

I have had Norton 360 installed on my two computers for almost 2 years, and this is the first time I'm experiencing this problem. After running LiveUpdate, as I always do every day, a security update appeared and I proceed to install it as usual. The issue is, that while I use the computer (even after several restarts) Norton continues crashing almost 1 time per hour.

Sometimes it starts to run again almost inmediately... but I have had 2 times where it just stopped working (while I was not in front of my computer) and then it ddidn't restart, leaving my computer without protection. I had to close everything I was working on, and then restart the computer in order to get Norton to work again.

This is getting quite annoying, I have to admit. Although the remote customer service is good, I simply can't (right now) lose almost 2 hours of my time, waiting for a fix. I have to say that my internet connection isn't the best, so a Norton 360 complete download will last almost 20 minutes.

Have someone else experienced this problem? How could I fix it? I have ran several Norton Autofix, and all say the same (included below) Thanks in advance for any information you can give me about this.

Re: Norton 360 crashing after new patch updates

Hi anbolanos91, and welcome!

I have had Norton 360 installed on my two computers for almost 2 years, and this is the first time I'm experiencing this problem.”

And has your OS always been Windows 8? I’m asking because if you have had it for two years as well and the issue is instead of recent occurrence, the reason may be different from what I’m about to say, in which case you should wait for someone else to help you.

Anyhow, I I've red in these forums of various problems with Windows 8/8.1 which were fixed by turning off Fast Startup. If this is enabled, the computer never gets fully shutdown, which is needed by Norton and other programs as well, to get fully updated.

Should you want to give it a try, here is how to disable this feature:.

Hope that helps.

Re: Norton 360 crashing after new patch updates

Greetings @Rainbow_2

Thank you very much for the information and the link. Unfortunately, answering your question: Yes, my OS has always been Windows 8. The problem started once I finished the installation of the new product updates this past weekend.

I was hoping to fix the issue quickly; but it seems that I'd need to contact customer service and spend some hours of my time.

Thanks anyway :)

Re: Norton 360 crashing after new patch updates

Hi, anbolanos91. Welcome. As mentioned, Windows 8 needs to be properly shut down to update Norton properly.

However it may be that your copy has become corrupted, and you may wish to try the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool, which will give you a clean copy.

http://www.norton.com/nrnr       If used, please read the Before you begin note, and run Live Update after until no more are found. Don't forget to reboot, and fully shutting down.

Let us know how you go.
