I just updated my windows 8.1 to windows 10 and windows 10 removed my norton internet security. Why and can I reinstall it on my windows 10 system.
I cannot find my Norton product after upgrading to Windows 10https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v113033802
Norton 188.8.131.52 supports W10
I did after a lot of run around do an upgrade and I had an account so it went ahead and installed from my original account. But I have had 3 errors today with Norton. One fixed itself the 2 others I had to remove and reinstall. That seemed to work????. I had to download 2lversions of the remove and reinstall before that one worked. I'll keep struggling and hope they have it fixed. I hate to keep downloading and reinstalling it since I don't have unlimited internet service. I am limited.
Norton Internet Security was updated before W10 conversion. I successfully installed W10 PRO on desktop W7 and laptop W8.1. I have not reloaded NIS on either device. So far, knock wood, I have not seen any unusual behavior from either W10 or NIS version 184.108.40.206. I do have this observation:
I believe that MS Windows Update would function on W7 without turning off Norton protection. Now though, with W10 I must turn off protection to get W10 product updates. I would like to not have to remember to turn off protection periodically just to “check for updates”. With protection ON, the “check for updates” does not complete its function but errors out.
Is this what I should expect or is there an "exception" list to allow for MS and other trusted vendors to perform product updates?
I don't need to disable Norton to successfully install Windows 10 updates.
I was able to find my Norton Security because I have it on my taskbar, however I need to fix something, but it won't let me because I'm a standard user, not an administrator. I've tried everything to set up "run as administrator" but can't get it to work, any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
I don't have any solution to your problems but I want to thank you for giving me another reason for my not upgrading to Win 10. Have had problems after upgrading from Win 8 to Win 8.1. I'm not ready to do battle with Win 10 at this point. The latest and greatest isn't always the best! I'm sticking with Win 8.1.
I do hope somebody who is more tech savvy than me will be able to assist you. Best of luck!
