Outlook 2013 Keeps Crashing Due to MsouPlug.OutlookPlug

Outlook 2013 Keeps crashing, about one a week, and Microsoft OffCat says it is due to MsouPlug.OutlookPlug which appears to be Norton Antispam. I have disabled it in Outlook but it appears that Norton Antispam is automatically re-enabling itself. What is the problem and how is it corrected and why does this continue with Norton.  I am running Windows 10 and Norton 360. I had the same problem with Windows 7.

Re: Outlook 2013 Keeps Crashing Due to MsouPlug.OutlookPlug

Hi TC Lacy - Welcome to the Community Forums!

FWIW - I've experienced similar Norton Plugin crash events in Outlook versions 2007, 2010, and 2013 (365)...

I'm curious to know if, when it happens, are you getting the Outlook notification (either a popup or an attention bar, just below the ribbon-band) indicating that the Norton add-in has been disabled by Outlook?

If so, and upon closing Outlook then reopening it - if you go into - File / Options / Add-Ins / Manage COM Add-ins ...  Does the Norton Plugin continue to remain deselected (as shown below) or does it remain selected (box checked)?

A possible workaround -
Some have reported that they achieved some improvement by going into their Norton product / Settings / AntiSpam -and disabling it ...

Sometimes doing the disable needs to followed by a system Re-Boot (to become effective), but this is not always the case - Then re-enable AntiSpam (again, in Norton Settings) followed by re-enabling the Norton plugin (in Outlook).

Hopefully performing these steps may help you as well ...

Kind regards,
John

Re: Outlook 2013 Keeps Crashing Due to MsouPlug.OutlookPlug

I followed the instructions above. I left Norton Antispam turned OFF. Outlook crashed (cannot find PST file). MS Offcat says that "MsouPlug.OulookPlug was re-enabled by you".

Is the problem in the registry and  what needs to be done to eliminate this problem ?
