Internet Security Deluxe won't work in 2 different countries

Hello everyone,

I had been buying Norton Internet Security since about 2008 (under different names too) always for multiple devices. Since I have been living in both Canada and Czech Republic now, and still having my other computer back in Czech Republic, I've been using my single Norton account for both of my devices here in Canada and in Czech Republic.

But now since 2016 you can not use the same product in 2 different countries !!!!!!!  How stupid is that, since I'm eligible for up to 5 devices, still it won't activate mine in Europe. Now Norton is saying that the one I purchased in Canada, can be used in Canada ONLY !!!

Did you purchase this from a retail store in Canada? If you did, region locking may apply. However, if you've purchased this through the Norton store online, as far as I know, region locking won't apply.

Yeah, I never knew since this is new. I bought it from Staples.ca store, didn't know could be different from Norton.com

You're welcome. You might want to contact support to see if they can help you with that. I think they can convert it for use in your country.

I have spent about an hour online chatting with Norton specialist, he wasn't totally smart, gave me that answer what I knew from beginning of the trouble, when computer told me can not be used in different region. I was trying to work around it, but unsuccessful. They are not helpful at all. He said this is it, what it is.

Just called Norton.com and this time they confirmed purchases from Norton.com are not restricted by different regions, only the ones bought from retailers are. Pretty dumb and uninformative.

Thanks to Xiee, I have contacted Norton support for the 3rd time about the same issue. This time I got to talk to a different agent who went ahead and exchanged my Norton product key to one which doesn't have a regional locking, just like all those purchased from Norton.com are not locked to a particular region.

That tells me too much politics in there, the first agent spent nearly an hour chatting with me ending with no result.

The second agent told me, he couldn't help me because of the regional lock, so he suggested to return it to Staples (who wouldn't refund opened software anyway) and repurchase it from Norton.com

Sorry to hear of your troubles with your Support experience. It does point out that in many cases you have to keep trying until you find an agent that can think outside the box, or at least can go off the scripts they are given.

But I want to thank you for your information about the product keys being region locked. Although I am in Canada, I get my product keys from the Norton site, so I was not aware of these problems.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
