Norton Stops every week after Windows 10 installation

Has anyone else had problems with Norton Internet Security stopping at regular intervals (every week in my case) since Windows 10 upgrade?  Every time I login to my laptop, I get the message come up that my Norton product is not compatible with Windows 10 and when I try to open it, I get error message 8504, 100.  Every time, I have to go through the rigmarole of uninstalling and re-installing & running Live Update etc. etc......  Therefore on New Year's Day, I'd had enough and got a Norton support technician to remote in to try and resolve it via chat, but all they did was exactly what I'd been doing every week for nearly two months and now, 7 days later, it's stopped again and I've had to go through the whole uninstall/reinstall thing again.  I'm really fed up.

What version of Norton Internet Security are you running. From the main screen, click on Help/Support - About.

Check to see if you have Windows Fast Startup disabled.

If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Norton Stops every week after Windows 10 installation

Hi there,

Version 22.5.5.15.

I'm just about to check whether Windows Fast Startup is on & if so, try and disable it to see if that works.  I'll let you know.

I've disabled WFS so will wait and see if Norton Internet Security stays on permanently.  It might take another week - that's the usual time period it manages to keep working until it just crashes out.  I'll keep my fingers crossed and thanks for the tip.

The timing could have something to do with updates to Norton or Windows. Your system needs to get a full restart for pending updates to get completed.

As you say, keep an eye on things to see if you have trouble in a week. If you do, try just restarting your computer to see if that helps.
