Norton vs Windows Problem

Hi,

I've noticed a problem between Norton and Windows in Security and Maintenance where the Norton 360 Premier is on but the Windows Firewall is not. I don't know how to fix this.

I stress a lot and this is contributing to it, if there is a way to fix this and have both on. Please post in this thread immediately because I need to find out an answer.

Thanks for reading :)

Re: Norton vs Windows Problem

No, you don't need to have both the Norton Firewall and Windows Firewall active together, nor can you.  If you are behind a router it probably has a firewall protecting you.

Two software firewalls will not make you any safer than letting Norton do it's thing.  If you could activate both you might find that all they do is fight each other and slow your machine down.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Re: Norton vs Windows Problem

Windows 7 and later automatically disable the Windows Firewall when a third-party firewall, like Norton, is installed.  Firewall control is ceded to the third-party product.  Windows does this because having two software firewalls enabled together will cause conflicts that can negatively affect connectivity and create security issues.  What you are seeing is the way it should be, there is nothing wrong with your Security and Maintenance information.
