Diagnostic Scan not working/running

I have a clean installation of Windows 10 on a Sony laptop.  I have installed Norton Internet Security.  Everything seems in order except that when I go to Security>Run Scans> and then choose "Diagnostic Report", and then "run", absolutely nothing happens.  No report, no hard drive activity, nothing.  I have run the repair tool, I have un-installed and re-installed several times to no avail.  It works fine on my other two Windows 10 machines.  Any idea as to what is wrong?

Hello

Have you tried removing NIS using the control panel method, restart, use the Norton Removal Tool , restart, and then install NIS. Please remember to backup ID Safe and run Live Update a few times restarting as needed. Please see if that helps. You could also try turning off Fast Startup. Try restarting your computer and see if that scan runs.

Although no help in fixing this for you, I have tried to duplicate your situation on two different Win 7 systems. Unfortunately, neither is running NIS (one is NSBU and the other Comcast's NSS) both updated to version 22.6.0.142.

I have duplicated on the NSS system.  Running Help > Get Support did not find nor repair any errors. I personally am not one to reinstall a product because the Diagnostic Scan does not function properly - so I will not test to see if a R & R will correct it since it does not occur every time I attempt to run the Diagnostic.  It does run from time to time for me.

On the NSBU system  - it runs every time without fail?

Similar to your situation - but on two different Norton products and a different OS.

What version of NIS do you have installed?

How did you reinstall? Did you use the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool? It may be time to try the Norton Removal Tool which does a more thorough uninstall to get rid of possibly corrupted components.   www.norton.com/nrt  Be sure you read the Before your begin section, and run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Thanks for the responses everyone!  I've reinstalled using uninstall from the control panel and then the Norton Removal Tool, using the fix tool, using uninstall and re-install, each time running live update several times until there are no more updates and/or patches.  Strangely, it has just started working without really doing "anything" ... maybe it needed a few "boots" to take hold.  Any way, it seems to be functioning perfectly now.
