Norton Internet Security Need Help

I just got a new computer yesterday- HP Spectre x360. Present from Hubby.  I have had Norton protection since forever. Currently on this new one just have Windows Defender (think that is what it is called) It was on this computer when I got it.   Norton was on my last laptop (believe it was  Windows 7 pro). Then I became one of the millions that Microsoft forced to update to Win10 when I didn't want it and never was given option to decline the update, just automatically updated after multi days of refusing to do so.. Last version of Norton I bought at a store was Norton Internet Security 2007 XP Home/XP Pro (cd) for up to 3 PCs. Didn't need for 3 pcs but was only thing they had. Has been automatically updated every year. Including after the forced update to Win 10.  Issue I am having is: I tried loading it onto this PC using the disc. wouldn't let me said I needed XP. So where do I need to go to get the latest and greatest of that I have on by old laptop? Sorry so long but not major tech savy person but wanted to give as much info as I could.   If someone can point me to the correct page I can download it from would really appreciate it.

Thanks, cynthia

Re: Norton Internet Security Need Help

If you have been automtically updating your Internet Security then I assume you must have a Norton Account. If so you should be able to download your Internet Security from your account assuming you still have a subscription.

Re: Norton Internet Security Need Help

Hello chiavet

Please make sure that the new laptop didn't come with any free trial security program installed other than Windows Defender. if there is another one there, then please remove it using the removal tool from the other vendor.

You can use this link to get the latest version of NIS. www.norton.come/latestnis  Please make sure your subscription is still current. If you have to get a new subscription, then I would recommend getting the newer product line which is Norton Security Deluxe which would be good for up to 5 devices including PC's, MAC's, tablets, iOS cell phones and Android cell phones. Your NIS is only good for up to 3 computers. There is also a Norton Security Standard which is good for 1 device.

Another thing is that you can now only renew NIS thru the Norton eStore and you will end up paying a lot more than if you bought the newer Norton Security for which you can shop around and get the best price. Norton Security comes as a download now, no more cd's.

After installing your product, please remember to run Live Update until there are no more updates restarting as necessary. After all the updates, please restart one more time. Another thing you should do with Windows 10 is to turn off Fast Startup.

Here is a link for turning off Fast Startup in Windows 10

Thanks.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.18.0.213 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

Re: Norton Internet Security Need Help

No subscription was necessary, is auto renewed each year.  Only Defender was on LT, when Norton installed Defender was turned off.  Am up and running.  Thanks for the help
