Norton try to made fraud!

My internet security gave me notification that my subscription with Norton is ending on 20 days. For renewal I clicked the link opened by the Norton application. Approx. 50 $ for 1 year, I accepted. I put my credit card. I got an error. I thought maybe there is something wrong with my credit card. I put my other banks credit card number. Again I got an error. This time I got a SMS immeaditely from the bank. Call our customer service it was saying. I called and they said Norton tried to charge 4600 $ from my card for 50$ purchase. Good work Norton. I uninstalled your application and will never use it. Sorry for my English.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

Obviously it was not Norton telling you this. Sounds like a scam to me. A rogue program

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

I would contact both card issuers and cancel the cards and ask for replacements. As PatsSoxBruins notes, this was probably not an official Norton notification. Was this a pop up from your browser? This would be an indication that it was a scam.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

@kaisertgc:

I am trying to reproduce your issue above:

I clicked on the "Activate Now" link > I needed to enter my Norton account first to proceed with the Subscription@ https://us.norton.com/renewal.

The (Norton's) pop-ups start appearing about a month before the expiry date, at first once a week and become more frequent as the expiry date approaches.

For more info, please review this page. Did you see similar items like this?

Further, update your Norton and scan your system in Windows Safe Mode. Contact Norton Virus Protection Promise if you think you are infected.

Please post back if this or any other comment solves your problem. THX and GOOD LUCK...

It was %100 Norton. That renewal window opened by application.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

I immediately cancelled both cards. It wasnt browser it was applications own window. If any risk around online, why not Norton send me update before to remove it from everybodys pc.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

If you posted a screenshot we could help you. It was most likely a rogue program and not Norton.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

Screenshots here. Decide rogue program or Norton. I wiii contact with bank and try to get a documentation.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

According to your shopping cart checkout you bought 1 year year license for 3 pc's at $149..99

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

That's 149.99 TL....Turkish Lira. That could be the $50 quoted in the original post.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

Yes approx. 150 TL is 50 dollars. What is wrong? Norton tried to charge me 4600 $ This what happened. I just wanted everybody know about it. It was an attempt, God bless they couldnt do it.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

Computers glitch. Severs glitch. Grocery stores have the incorrect prices. People are overcharged everyday. It is not a perfect world we live in. But I highly doubt Norton was purposely trying to steal 4600 $ from you. Several months ago I had a $250 unexplainable charge on my cell phone bill. Did it mean that AT&T was trying to fraud me? No. I called and it was a computer error on their part and they removed the charge. No big deal.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

Hello @kaisertgc,

I'm very concerned with the experience you had and would like to learn more. I've left you a Private Mail, which is accessible in the forum header "Inbox".

Thanks,

Matt

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

@ kaisertgc...............No one said you were lying. But you made a post stating that Norton was trying to fraud you. I highly doubt that was the case. It was a mere glitch that never went through. People are overcharged all the time due to errors. It does not mean someone is frauding you. No reason to make a post about it. Maybe Matt Phillips can help you further.

Re: Norton try to made fraud!

This is the SMS from HSBC Bank while I was trying to making purchase from Norton. Last Saturday 03 December 2016 at 12:20(Local time of Turkey)

It is saying "We need your approval for transactions you doing so we cancelled your card until we get it. Call ASAP from this number."

Why bank would give this kind of a reaction to approx. 50$ purchase? Do you think is it my first time I am making online shopping?

I called bank right after this SMS and customer service told me transaction name "Norton" tried to charge approx. 4600$ from your card so we didnt let transaction and cancelled the card.

As a customer I felt bad and wanted to share my experience. English is not my first language, I preffered the word "fraud" because in Turkish if you try to do sth. this way it is called "fraud". It is my fault if I use this word not in an appropriate way but it doesn't give you right to decide what to post what not to post in this platform.

If any authorized person from Norton reading this I gave exact time of incident. Last saturday 03 december 2016 12:20 (Local time of Turkey). They can check.

I called bank today and they told me system automaticaly deletes not approved transactions documents. So this sms is my only proof.

This thread can be closed. I am not blaming anybody for nothing happened. It was an attempt and it didnt happen. My only purpose was to share it.
