LU wrecked NIS, now Norton Account says my sub expired

Today I got a message from NIS saying that there was a problem with a Live Update and that I would have to remove NIS with the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool and then reinstall it.

I followed the instructions to a T, but now when I get to the step to sign into my Norton Account in order to download NIS again, I get a webpage claiming that my subscription is expired.

I have NIS on two other PCs on this same subscription, and both of them state, correctly, that I have 171 days left on my subscription. What gives?!?

Please, someone from Norton/Symantec tell me EXACTLY what I need to do to get this third PC to download and reinstall NIS properly.

It had the "latest and greatest" version of NIS on it -- the one with the hideous "modern" white interface and which no longer includes the Network Security Map.

Thank you.

Re: LU wrecked NIS, now Norton Account says my sub expired

You should not have to log into your Norton Account to download your product if you are using the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool. After the old installation is uninstalled, you should restart the computer and log into a Windows Admin account and the installer for your product should just start.

If you did not log into an admin account, log out of the standard account and then log into an admin account.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: LU wrecked NIS, now Norton Account says my sub expired

Interesting. That's not at all how the process worked for me. (I am on a Windows administrator account.) After rebooting, the NRnR tool popped up and I had to click on a link in the window, but then when the download page came up, I was asked to sign in.

Wish I'd taken screenshots of each step to show what I saw, but then that's not the sort of thing that's top of mind when trying to recover one's Internet protection...

Anyway, I ended up going to online chat with Norton Support, and they took care of it.

Thanks for letting us know that you got it installed again.

Not sure what happened with NRNR for you. It is supposed to be very easy. I used it recently and had no issue like you are describing.
