Is this not an inherent risk in what you do deliberately downloading viruses and malware if you can find them?

Surely you use a "disposable" computer for this and not something you rely on?

i have done test with Kaspersky and McAfee, Kaspersky detected those two threats that made my pc unstable..and Mcafee also blocked those two when i executed, with some artemis code..well i just want my Favourite Norton should catch it...

Don't we all ? !

But your message sounded as if you were more upset about what happened to your PC than that Norton did not catch the malware.....

Just my reaction FWIW.

Whether Norton caught or not..it least bother me..as i backup my data regualary..and there were times when Norton saved me and as well as my friends..i will continue to use Norton products..i am currently using Norton 360 and Norton 2010 beta..and in overall value of money and performance Norton is still the best..

Re: Norton 2009 updated failed to block threat-Complete pc disaster!!

You tested with [name of another AV] some time after you initially experienced the problem. AV software is continuously being updated as new threats are discovered. It's possible that [name of another AV] did not know about the problem either at the time you first experienced it.

Moreover, since no AV knows about or can solve for every threat, [name of another AV] may be missing threats that NAV/NIS can defend against.

It all goes to show, in my opinion, that AVs that regularly appear in the top rankings for effectiveness against malware can't be differentiated by their individual rankings alone. You have to consider their features, interface, support, etc. For all its highs and lows, I still like NIS over the competition.
