Core and Norton VPN

So currently a Norton Security Premium user and have used Norton products for years... Not currently a Norton VPN user, but using a competing product for several years now...

Want to know if Core router will or allow Norton VPN product to create tunnel at router-level ?  would become a Norton VPN subscriber if this is the case... a secure router designed to be used with your VPN product would be a much better product.

Re: Core and Norton VPN

The Core FAQs here, make no mention of router based VPN. The Core router will work with a VPN product, whether Norton's or another vendors.

Re: Core and Norton VPN

when you say, "...will work with a VPN product.."  I'm assuming you mean, like any other router allows a device with VPN software through it...  the tunnel exists between that device and the VPN server...

my question is whether or not the VPN software (app) can exist at the router level, such as a 'Flashrouter'... which allows the tunnel to exist between the router and the VPN server...  so that any traffic from any device connected to the router is routed through the VPN...

I guess I should have stated the I read through the FAQ's without a satisfactory answer, thus he question... I would think that anyone would read the FAQ's prior to posting a question though...

Re: Core and Norton VPN

The only information available publicly now is in the FAQs.

What I just searched about 'flashrouters' is that they have been flashed with Tomato or DD-WRT custom roms to offer the VPN feature. I highly doubt that Norton is about to open up their secure router to a third party custom rom. Sort of defeats the purpose of selling a secure router if you are going to open it up to anyone.

Maybe employee @Gayathri_R fill in the details for you.

Re: Core and Norton VPN

You're getting closer...  the whole point is that I'm hoping Norton sees the value in creating a secure router with the VPN capability... and i would assume that they wouldn't open it to any VPN, but keep it closed....

btw, as a flashrouter user, i would attest they not 'open to anyone'...  well at least as secure as you make them, which is true of most networks...

While there is nothing definitive in any of the information publicly available for Core, my hope is that an employee could say either 'yeah, we are working on it' or 'nope, not gonna happen'...

Re: Core and Norton VPN

As the Core is about to ship, according to the FAQs "Your Norton Core router will be shipped in summer 2017. ", there is hardly time to be adding design features.

We'll see what Gayathri has to say.
