How do you shutdown the Core device

I am looking for a way to shutdown the Core device, short of pulling the electrical plug out of the wall. I see in the App that it can be reset, but I don't see a way to shut it down in a graceful way. What am I missing?

Re: How do you shutdown the Core device

I do not know of any router that can just be shut down. Why do you need to do this?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: How do you shutdown the Core device

Routers I've used in the past have had a physical on/off button. Eliminates the need for going under the desk to find the plug to pull it when there is a reason to physically change cabling to the router. Maybe a "graceful" shutdown isn't required in a router. I come from a Windows world where many a Windows system was corrupted when the system was just powered off without a shutdown command.

Re: How do you shutdown the Core device

There is a power button right by where you plug the power cord into the Norton Core. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to do anything when I press it. Maybe your’s works?

The on/off button would not start any shutdown process. It just shuts off the power without you having to unplug.

Re: How do you shutdown the Core device

@Richard1864 - That is the Reset Button, not a Power Button.   If you press and hold it for ten seconds it will reset your Norton Core:

  • Disables your current wireless network
  • Erases all your current settings and restores default settings
  • Unlinks your Norton Core router from your Norton account

Oh, I thought it was the power button

On my non-Core device the lead from the power brick plugs into the 'box" and so unplugging that powers the unit down.

According to my ISP that is an acceptable alternative to a shutdown button, unplugging from the wall socket or a thingy behind a pin hole in the case that you operate with an unbent paperclip .... as one can on a CD/DVD player.

Re: How do you shutdown the Core device

To answer @wjhallahan - There is no power button on the Norton Core. Under Settings you can turn-off the light and Restart or Reset your router. But there is no way to power it down other than unplugging it.

Dave_Coleman, I guess that answers my question.

Thanks everyone for your responses.
