blocked device

Norton Core has blocked a device from the network.  How do I unblock it?

Re: blocked device

@William J - This hasn't happened to me, so I'm not 100% sure, but this is where I'd expect to find it:

From the main home page click on the bell in the upper-right corner.
Then click on Notifications.
I'd expect to see it in the list there, and click either Yes or No. You can also click on the ">" for more information.

Re: blocked device

Thank you for your response  The Notification list is has no entries.  My laptop device still says"This device has not yet been approved for use on this network".   The list on my smartphone still showed it as blocked. I installed the Norton Core 2 weeks ago on 2 laptops, 2 printers, 2 tablets, and 2 smart phone with no problems until 2 days ago.   Then I had a screen that stated my computer is "Not secure or Protected.Subscription Status 0 Days Remaining'  Try the Fix-it Button" During this process the Date and Time was changed to 7:00pm  12/31/1969 with no resolution of the problem.  I was advised "If the problem persists, we recommend that you uninstall and re-install your Norton product"  I did this and sent an email from my Core App. But  since I can't  access the internet from my laptop, I can't re-install.  Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

During this process the Date and Time was changed to 7:00pm  12/31/1969 with no resolution of the problem.

Was the date and time changed on your PC? If so, reset it to the correct time. Then see if you can allow access from the Core app.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: blocked device

Thank you for your response.

I reset the Date and Time when that first happened and tried the process again by skipping the Date and Time reset request.  I was then directed to the Norton web site which couldn't be obtained because "The device has not yet been approved for use on this network.  I was able to confirm that I am connected to the network but my computer is not allowed to use it.

Re: blocked device

"This device has not yet been approved for use on this network"  The device (my laptop) was able to use this network (Core) without problem for nearly 2 weeks.  Now it has been banned from using the Network and I can't figure out why.  The connection to the network is there for "This device" it just refuses approve access the network. WHY?!?!

Re: blocked device

FWIW!!  Try deleting the device from the Core itself. Reboot the core router than add it back into the setup.

Re: blocked device

Try clicking the menu on the upper left corner, the "Devices" and see if the device is listed.  If it is click on it and see if there is a way to unblock it there.

Re: blocked device

Thanks for the reply.  All of my devices are seen as shared devices.  None are assigned to a person

Thanks for replying.  Clicking on the device in "Devices" has no response.

Re: blocked device

William. Remove the Ethernet cord from the core router and plug it directly into your laptop. You should be able to access the internet with that configuration. Download the removal tool here - Follow these instruction and reinstall your product. Make sure you run live updates until no updates are present then reboot. Once rebooted run live update again until no updates are available.

https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v60392881_EndUserProfile_en_us

Once completed reconnect the Ethernet to the Core router and power cycle the router. Once it has rebooted connect to the core with the laptop in question rechecking for connectivity. Please let us know if this solved things for you.

Re: blocked device

@William J  Its been some time since we heard from you. I now have the core and think this may help you in the event you do not already have your issue resolved.

Re: blocked device

I’ve tried to block a neighbors device, by swiping left (iOS) and tapping the block button. The blocked device does not show up under notifications. There appears to be no indication of the device as being blocked. Managed OFF. Also, the device list information has never been accurate. I’m currently streaming to the PS4, which appears on ‘device previously on network’. Data amounts also appear to be highly suspect.

Re: blocked device

Eric D Did you previously allow the neighbors device to connect to the guest network? From the drop down menu (3 small bars top left) select DEVICES and find the device you are looking for. Tap the icon to the right of it and it should turn black which will block the device whether connected or not.

Note: The current firmware for Core is v191, iOS app should be version 1.18 as of the last release posting. My Android app just updated to 1.20.1 and there is no mention of it here yet: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-core-mobile-apps-update-%E2%80%93-release-notes

Re: blocked device

I went to device list where you can see the blocked device. Swipe left the blocked device and a green "Allow" will appear. Select it and the device will migrate from the "Blocked" list to the "Currently on Network" list.

Re: blocked device

R-M That is the solution.  Having the Core and actually being able to see things is allowing me to better answer everyone's questions here. Have a great day.
