App locker - allow fingerprint to unlock phone but different fingerprint for app locker?

I am wanting to put Norton App Locker on my daughters phone so I can limit her access to certain apps. She currently uses her fingerprint to unlock her phone, when I setup the app and have fingerprint enabled it allows her to use her fingerprint to access locked items.

Is it possible to have her fingerprint added to unlock the device itself but only my fingerprint can access apps locked by App locker?

App Lock uses its own PIN, not any PIN/fingerprint access from the device.

Just be sure when you set up App Lock that you ensure that the device manager setting is set in Android Settings is turned on. Then  also be sure you lock Android Settings in the App Lock app. That way your daughter should not be able to disable/uninstall App Lock and bypass your protection efforts.

Where can I setup which fingerprints work for app locker? When the app locker setting for "allow fingerprint" is enabled it accepts any fingerprint stored in the device. When it is disabled I can only unlock app locker with the pattern. Is there a way to allow my fingerprint to unlock app locker but not allow her fingerprint to?

I do not have a device that supports fingerprint, so I see not option for allow fingerprint. Are you seeing this setting in the App Lock Settings pages? Did you test to see if your daughter and you both are able to access App Lock with fingerprints?

If you are having trouble with that, have you tried just setting up a PIN passcode?

Re: App locker - allow fingerprint to unlock phone but different fingerprint for app locker?

Yes within the App Lock settings there is a check box to "allow fingerprint/passcode" and when that is checked then any registered fingerprint works. When it is unchecked it works fine and I can only unlock locked apps using the pattern I set in the App Lock setup...I just figured fingerprint would be more secure to prevent the pattern being guessed or her seeing me enter it in.

As far as locking the Settings App...if I do that can she still connect to wireless like if she goes to a friends house or would it not let her because Settings was locked?

She will still be able to use the quick settings you find when you swipe down from the top of the screen. Wifi and Bluetooth settings will still be available to be turned on and off.

IIRC, I have been able to sign up on new networks while App Lock protects the Android Settings. And if she has already used the network at a friend's house, the device should automatically connect without any settings intervention.

I'm not trying to flog a dead horse here. I just want to confirm exactly what is happening here so I can report any bugs to my Norton contacts.  When you have the fingerprint setting enabled in App Lock Settings, your daughter was able to access the App Lock app using her fingerprint?

Correct. If I check that box to enable fingerprint then her fingerprint works to access App Lock and locked apps.

Thanks. I'll pass this along.

Re: App locker - allow fingerprint to unlock phone but different fingerprint for app locker?

I've heard from my contacts. Apparently the Android OS is designed so stored fingerprints have the same access to anything fingerprint locked. Apps with this feature can only enable or disable it.

Here is an example from a phone with fingerprint setup.

So the best advice is what I suggested. Disable the fingerprint feature in App Lock and just use a PIN.

Thanks, that's what I figured but hoped it was possible to lock it to my fingerprint so I don't have to worry about her seeing me draw the pattern.
