Quilt Assistant Software installer deleted as untrustworthy

I am trying to install some free quilt design software called QuiltAssistant V2.10.  When I download the installer from the developer's website Norton flags it as untrustworthy and removes it.  The installer is called QA_Installer_v2.25.exe.  When I read the details tab, it says:  "Threat type:  Insight Network Threat.  There are many indications that this file is untrustworthy and therefore not safe.  Threat name: WS.Reputation.1   I get the impression that the file is deleted because of it's name and not due to the results of a scan.  But I'm no expert so am not certain of this.

I emailed the developer, Arnout Cosman, and he says that this is a false positive but all he could recommend was that I disable Norton to install it.

I don't know how to do this.  Also, I would like the file to be scanned for specific threats not just rejected because it might have a name similar to something that is a threat.

Thanks in advance for all help offered.

Jean

Please review: WS.Reputation.1 detection.
https://community.norton.com/en/forums/clarification-wsreputation1-detection
Files reported as WS.Reputation.1 may not necessarily be malicious, and may be a false positive detection. Should you be uncertain whether a file has been reported correctly, you may submit file to https://www.virustotal.com for second opinion scan with multiple antivirus engines.
If you believe a file has been mistakenly detected by WS.Reputation.1, you may submit a dispute at https://submit.symantec.com/false_positive/.

Re: Quilt Assistant Software installer deleted as untrustworthy

Thank you.  I submitted the file to virustotal.com and it tested 100% clean.  So I submitted the file to symantec as a false positive.
