Is software from Z3X box and Octoplus known to be safe?

So, I've been trying to use JTAG and UART boxes with cellphones.  However, Norton has pretty much flagged the software interfaces for these things (the boxes have special cables and attach to the computer) as having a "bad reputation."  I suspect this may be a false positive because: The software is updated very often, so never has a broad user base; and: it's sort of a niche product, so there was not exactly an immense base to begin with.

However, the files are too big to upload, and actually this potentially poses a *huge* security risk.  Since these devices allow me to flash the phone, carrier unlock them, ect, I sort of have to trust them not to be infecting my customers phones (I think these are widely used in the industry but it'd be nice to know from experts for sure.)  Worse, some of these appear to come from foreign countries.  They also provide images of Android to flash the phones with.

So, can anyone confirm that the software, (at least) is safe?  Some examples which are flagged include: http://z3x-team.com/support_files/ and https://octoplusbox.com/en/download/software/.  (Basically look for the software/drivers on the page.  A ton of it seems to be flagged.)

(Even if the devices can't be analyzed for sure, it'd be nice to see if someone knows of anything suspicious in the software other than "bad reputation" - as I can't find a way other than these devices to do what I need to do.)
